2009 Rules and Problem
The 2009 Problem (PDF) describes the necessary facts and issues in the form of an appeal court decision which is subject to a further appeal. Please submit any questions to IPAdvocacy AT uwindsor DOT ca. Based on feedback from participants a clarification was issued regarding the problem.
The last version of the 2009 Moot Rules was version 2.2. Download the 2009 Rules (PDF)
A question has been raised regarding the interpretation of Rule 1.1 c) (in respect of the originally published Rules) which states that “The Competition shall take place in the English language”. Specifically, the petitioner had inquired whether the rule prohibited the use of the French versions of statutes in written submissions. To resolve any uncertainty, for the purposes of the 2008/2009 Competition, there should be no reference to the French language versions of applicable statutes.
